The American Heritage Tour is a constantly evolving educational journey for middle school students, designed as an integrated approach to teaching history and contributing effectively as citizens. The planning, group work and tour itinerary are parallel to Maine’s Common Core of Learning and provide a wonderful opportunity to share a vision with the local school systems that participate. Students will meet for an entire year to learn about the places they will visit and how the history and culture of that place or time impacts our world today.
The groups visit Independence Park in Philadelphia, have a two-hour guided tour of the Amish Country, charge Little Round Top at Gettysburg, visits the monuments, the Smithsonians, and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. They also visit the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, and major New York City attractions.
The tour fee of $855.00 for students and $555.00 for team leaders includes: all prep meeting and materials, transportation by Poland Bus Company, meals, hotels, entrance fees, and a tour jacket. Payments are spread out over the course of the year and financial aid is available.
